Future of M-Commerce in India

Abstract

There is an immense scope for MobileCommerce (M-Commerce) in India. Use of mobile phone has increased so much that it is not just a device to make calls, but an important medium to fulfill all the financial needs for friends and family. Now, mobile phone technology has made another leapfrog to pave its way for a new trend called Mcommerce where the financial transactions are made using mobile devices. The new concept has already gained much popularity in the US, Europe, and Africa. In India, though, basic banking transactions and mobile payments are available, but with the increasing use of Smartphone, tablets, latest-applications enabled mobile devices and increasing 4G penetrations in Indian digital market, the MCommerce service is creating its space in the market. The growth of M-Commerce is so rapid that experts believe that it will acquire half of all E-commerce by 2018. Therefore, it is not an overstatement if Smartphone are considered the future as far as our shopping habits are concerned. M -Commerce is progressing and within some years huge number of people will be using mobile applications.

Introduction

E-commerce is “Electronic-Commerce” in which buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers through an electronic medium, without using any paper documents. M-Commerce is “MobileCommerce” in which the buying and selling of products and services through wireless devices like mobiles and tablets, using the internet. Mobile commerce is used in different fields like banking, travelling, money transactions, eBook, pharmacy, foods and booking tickets for movies and etc. It was coined by “KEVIN DUFFEY” in 1997.M-

Conclusion

The first 15 years of online shopping was about making it easier for people to find and purchasing items they were looking for. But within 10 years MCommerce is Unrecognizable. MCommerce will be creating new opportunities and destroying old ways of Online shopping activities. Merchants will not only know what is in your shopping basket, but also what you plan next. The path of changes has never been faster and is paving in way for M-commerce to succeed at an increasing rate. Cash will still exist but no one will use it as carrier payments. The swipe of a Smartphone will do the trick.
